Birth Doula

“Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers – strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength”

Barbara Katz Rothman

Giving birth is a life transforming experience so having the right birth team by your side makes a world of difference.

Women who feel supported and safe in labour are more likely to have better outcomes and a smoother recovery. For centuries and in most cultures women are assisted by a Doula or another experienced woman who knows the process of labour and what is required to keep the woman safe and calm so she can focus on birthing her baby.

My hope for you and your family is a gentle, positive and empowering birth experience where you feel safe, supported and heard. I will support and respect your birth choices whilst maintaining a calm and positive presence. As your Doula, I will be your advocate and give your reassurance throughout the pregnancy, labour and birth.

A positive and well supported birth sets you up for a smooth transition to motherhood and family life.

I support all kind of births from elective caesarean or early epidural to home water birth. So far I have supported women (with or without a birthing partner) in Chelsea and Westminster, King’s College, Kingston, Queen’s Charlotte and Chelsea, Royal Free, St. George’s, Whipps Cross, Kensington Wings, St. Thomas’, and The Whittington hospitals but I look forward to getting familiar with other London hospitals.

Henna has such a positive energy and a pleasant demeanor. I truly believe that Henna’s presence helped me achieve the most calm and positive birth experience possible

Birth packages include the following but can be tailored to your needs and requests:

Labour Support:

  • From the point of hire, I will support you through your pregnancy through email, phone, zoom or text/whatsapp as needed.
At around 33 weeks, our first antenatal session gives me the chance to understand more about your birth vision and develop your birth preferences.
  • At around 36 weeks (the second antenatal session) we can start to practice comfort techniques for labour and develop your postnatal plan further. These meetings are also great for getting to know each other and how we might best work together.
  • Be on call for you 24/7 for the two weeks before your expected due date until your baby is born.
  • Be with you as soon as you want me to be after labour has started.
  • During labour I will provide you guidance on positions, comforting touch, counter-pressure, aromatherapy, breathing techniques, as well as encouragement and reassurance to the labouring woman and partner.
  • I will be available about 1 to 3 hours post birth to provide support on breastfeeding initiation and to make sure both mother and baby are settled.

After Birth Support:

  • A few days after the birth I will visit you so we can discuss your birth experience, your birth recovery, guidance on nutrition and breastfeeding. We can also review soothing techniques and talk about other milestones like the baby’s first bath.
  • I’m available to you through phone/email/zoom or text support for reassurance and to answer all the questions that arise in the 6 weeks after you baby’s birth.
